Former Clinton aide Lockhart leaves Facebook

By Brendan Sasso - 10/05/12 12:38 PM ET

Facebook confirmed Friday that Joe Lockhart, the vice president of global communications, plans to leave the company.

Lockhart served as the White House press secretary under President Clinton from 1998 to 2000. He also worked on Sen. John Kerry's (D-Mass.) 2004 presidential bid, Clinton's 1996 run and other Democratic campaigns. He co-founded Glover Park Group, a Washington-based communications firm.

Lockhart joined Facebook in July of last year.

According to AllThingsD, which first reported the news, Lockhart left because he didn't want to move to California full-time. He may still consult for Facebook part-time, the technology news site reported.
