News bites: Sprint has no immediate plans to take over Clearwire

By Jennifer Martinez - 10/16/12 08:34 AM ET

Sprint has no immediate plans to take over Clearwire, Bloomberg reports.

The BlackBerry has lost its cool factor in the U.S. as iPhones and Android smartphones dominate the market, according to The New York Times.

Softbank's $20 billion purchase of Sprint is one of the more unusual deals in the telecom world, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Yahoo has named Henrique De Castro, one of Google's top sales executives, as its new chief operating officer, AllThingsD says.

Softbank President Masayoshi Son stands out among other executives in Japan, the AP writes.

A British hacker accused of breaking into U.S. military computer systems will not be extradited because he is suicidal, Reuters reports.
