News bites: Twitter played big role in 2012 election

Twitter broke several records on Election Day as more than 31 million election-related tweets were posted, Reuters reports.

Twitter successfully handled the thousands of tweets flowing through its systems on Tuesday without the "fail whale" popping up, AllThingsD writes.

Sprint has agreed to buy spectrum from U.S. Cellular's Midwest markets, according to Reuters.

The attorney representing George Zimmerman has set up a Twitter and Facebook account to post information about the murder case, The New York Times reports.

Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom needs to find a country where he can host his new online venture's domain name, according to CNET.
