News bites: Google launches campaign against German copyright bill

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski's careful regulatory approach has earned him mixed reviews during his tenure, The Washington Post writes.

Google has launched a media campaign against a German copyright bill that proposes to force search engines to pay for showing headlines and excerpts of text from news articles, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Countries meeting in Dubai next week to update a global telecommunications treaty will weigh proposals about how network operators can make money off the Internet, among other business matters, The New York Times reports.

A recent Federal Trade Commission ruling on a patent case provided some clues on how the agency may handle its antitrust investigation against Google, Reuters reports.

Groupon's board is expected to meet to discuss whether CEO Andrew Mason will stay on board at the company, Bloomberg writes.
