News bites: Stage is set for email privacy bill markup

By Jennifer Martinez - 11/29/12 09:26 AM ET

Ahead of a markup on an email privacy bill, former prosecutors and judges say requiring police to obtain a warrant before they can access people's emails won't inhibit law enforcement from doing their jobs, The Associated Press reports.

The Washington Post's editorial board published an opinion piece that voices support for Sen. Patrick Leahy's (D-Vt.) proposed amendments to the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, which will be marked up on Thursday.

LivingSocial is laying off 400 staff members across the company to cut costs, according to Bloomberg.

PeopleBrowsr won a temporary injunction against Twitter that lets the company continue to access the microblogging website's tweets, CNET writes.
