News bites: US, EU antitrust officials to discuss Google probe next week

By Jennifer Martinez - 11/30/12 10:24 AM ET

Federal Trade Commission Chairman Jon Leibowitz is meeting with the top European antitrust official next week to discuss the agency's investigation into Google, among other matters, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Google and Twitter have revived their Speak2Tweet service, which will let people in Syria send out tweets via voicemail, according to CNET.

European Union member states are teaming up to fight against proposals from Russia and African countries for a U.N. telecom treaty conference in Dubai next week, Reuters reports.

Although Internet service in Syria blacked out on Thursday, people outside of the country could still visit several websites associated with the Syrian government because they're hosted by companies in the United States and other countries, The New York Times writes.
