News bites: Facebook to end user-voting system

Google CEO Larry Page pushed back against complaints from rivals and told Fortune in an interview that the search company has "tried to be very inclusive of people's data."

Google confirmed that service disruptions caused Gmail and some of its other Web products to go dark on Monday, Reuters reports.

Facebook will eliminate its user-voting system and start integrating Instagram data with the site after fewer than 30 percent of users voted on its proposed new changes, TechCrunch reports.

A new study finds that patent trolls are behind the bulk of patent infringement lawsuits in the U.S., CNET writes.
