News bites: UN agency surprised US rejected telecom treaty

Hamadoun Toure, the secretary general of the United Nations International Telecommunications Union, said he was surprised that the U.S. decided not to sign a global telecommunications treaty, according to TechCrunch.

Sprint offered $2.1 billion to buy out Clearwire, Reuters writes.

Online TV startup Aereo inked a deal with Bloomberg TV to stream their content, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Chinese websites Taobao and Sohu.com were removed from a U.S. piracy watch list after taking steps to crack down on infringing products, according to Bloomberg.
