News bites: Samsung ends push for Apple sales ban in Europe

Samsung dropped its request for a ban on the sale of certain Apple phones and tablet computers in Europe, The New York Times reports.

Faceboook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will donate $500 million in stock to a Silicon Valley charity to fund health and education issues, according to the Associated Press. 

Oracle said software sales will remain strong despite fears of tax hikes and government spending cuts, Reuters writes.

Facebook is relying on Instagram in its fight against Twitter to become the prime hub for photo sharing on the Internet, The Wall Street Journal explains.
