News bites: US tech companies push for better factory conditions post-Foxconn

U.S. technology companies have started to push for better working conditions in Chinese factories that assemble their electronics after Foxconn's problems grabbed global headlines, according The New York Times.

Netflix's outage on Christmas Eve highlights the risks companies take when they house their operations in the cloud, Reuters writes.

China's new leaders are tightening the government's controls on Internet use in the country as its legislature is considering a measure that would require Internet users to register their real names, barring anonymous commenting on the Web, according to the AP.

A jury ordered that chip-maker Marvell Technology Group should pay nearly $1.17 billion for infringing on patents held by Carnegie Mellon University, The Wall Street Journal reports.
