News bites: CES gets under way in Vegas

Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt and former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson saw how North Korean students surf the Internet when visiting a university in Pyongyang on Tuesday, according to the AP.

Google could lose its hold on the mobile search and advertising market as people bypass the search engine and opt to use mobile apps instead, The New York Times reports.

A Chinese businessman pleaded guilty on Monday to selling pirated American software used in defense, space technology and engineering programs, Reuters writes.

Panasonic unveiled TVs at the International CES show in Las Vegas that use facial recognition to determine which TV shows or content that person might want to view, according to The New York Times.

3-D printers are one of the most buzzed-about gadgets this year at the International CES show, according to The Washington Post.
