Dish looks to snag Clearwire from Sprint
Dish Network made an unsolicited bid to buy wireless network operator Clearwire on Tuesday for $3.30 per share.
Clearwire already agreed to sell itself to Sprint in October for $2.97 per share.
In a statement, Sprint said its offer is superior to Dish's proposal, which it called "highly conditional" and "not viable."
In a statement, Clearwire said it would consider Dish's offer, but noted that its ability to enter into new agreements is "significantly limited" by the Sprint deal.
Clearwire has struggled financially, but the company holds the rights to valuable blocks of wireless frequencies.
Dish Network is currently a satellite television provider, but the Federal Communications Commission approved its proposal to build an LTE cellphone network last month.
Sprint is currently in the process of being bought by Japanese firm Softbank.
