News bites: Swartz's death sparks debate on open access to data online

By Jennifer Martinez - 01/14/13 08:56 AM ET

The death of Internet activist Aaron Swartz has reopened the debate about whether there should be more open access to data and information on the Internet, according to The New York Times.

The United States is concerned that China's growing activity in space could disrupt its satellites used for military and intelligence communications, Reuters writes.

Hacker group Anonymous hacked MIT's website in the wake of Aaron Swartz's death, CNET reports.

Investors are getting pickier about which Web startups they put money into after Facebook rocky IPO last year, The New York Times says.
