News bites: Twitter faces challenge in France

A French court ordered Twitter to identify people who had written racist posts on the website and it's unclear whether the company will comply with the order, according to The New York Times.

AT&T added 780,000 new contract customers in the fourth quarter but still trails Verizon's total number of new subscribers, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Industry groups and the Obama administration are lobbying against proposed online privacy rules in Europe, according to The Washington Post.

Financial regulators are reviewing how debt collectors use Facebook and other social media websites to contact potential debtors, Bloomberg writes.
