Al Jazeera hires lobby firm DLA Piper

By Megan R. Wilson - 02/12/13 02:19 PM ET

Al Jazeera America is assembling a K Street team to advocate for its cable news channel, The Hill has confirmed.

The network, whose parent company recently purchased Al Gore’s Current TV, hired DLA Piper last month, according to registration paperwork filed on Tuesday.

The registration form says DLA Piper will conduct “informational communications regarding client's cable television channel.”

Among the four lobbyists on the account is Mark Paoletta, former chief counsel for oversight and investigations for the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Al Jazeera America Holdings is the U.S. subsidiary of the Qatar-based news network.
