News bites: GOP to create digital platform targeting voters

The GOP is pairing up with Silicon Valley investors on a new venture backed by Karl Rove that will create a digital platform for targeting voters and donors, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Calls for reforming a computer hacking law are rising after a social media editor at Reuters was charged last week with assisting hackers, The New York Times reports. 

Verizon is in talks with media companies about paying for their channels based on audience size, The Wall Street Journal says.

Merchants upset with recent fee hikes on Amazon could defect to rival eBay or new players like Wal-Mart or Google, Reuters writes.

Interest in remotely operated airplanes is rising, but so are the concerns about privacy, according to The New York Times.
