News bites: EU moves against Google over patents

The European Commission said Google's Motorola unit may have violated antitrust rules by refusing to let Apple use essential smartphone patents, The Associated Press reports. 

The amount of data collected on popular websites has fallen slightly after a period of explosive growth, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Resistance to Google Glass is mounting due to privacy and safety concerns, The New York Times writes. 

Bart Chilton, a member of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, told Reuters he has asked agency staff to explore whether the Bitcoin digital currency should be subject to regulations.
