FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski has a big job ahead of him, and he's asking the public for help.
During a speech on Monday in Chicago, Genachowski noted that his agency, via the stimulus package, is charged with "devising a plan that would bring broadband to every part of the country..."
Genachowski, noting that 50 percent of small firms do not have websites, called on stakeholders to help his agency craft a national broadband plan, which is due by Feb. 17, 2010.
The FCC chairman on Monday solicited input from small businesseses. The agency has been directed by Congress to describe how broadband can help tackle "'national purposes' such as health care delivery, educational opportunity, energy efficiency, and others," Genachowski said.
