Wi-Fi in store for House buildings

The House is building a speedy Wi-Fi network for the Rayburn, Cannon, Longworth and Ford office buildings, as well as the House portions of the Capitol, reports NextGov.com.

The Wi-Fi network is expected to need 750 access points and will take three years to complete.

Clearly, security will be paramount on the network. It will need to make sure unauthorized users aren't able to get on the network and it will need to be able to detect fake access points.

The thick marble walls could present a problem: Wi-Fi signals don't easily penetrate walls of any kind, let alone solid stone. But the House plans on using new technology that can take advantage of signals bouncing off the walls and floors inside the buildings.
