Tea Party gets an iPhone app

By Tony Romm - 03/05/10 01:43 PM ET

In a testament to the movement's online roots, a designer this week released an iPhone application designed to help Tea Party enthusiasts locate local chapters, events and supporters.

The free app -- called "Tea Party Finder" -- is the second such program made available to iPhone and iPod touch users over the past few weeks.

This latest iteration, authored by Ryan Ninneman, determines a user's location using the iPhone's built-in GPS system, and displays a list of local chapters and events registered online with the Tea Party Patriots, one of many such Tea Party groups around the country.

It is unclear how many iPhone owners have already downloaded the app, but only a meager eight users have so far ranked the app positively.
