Ex-Speaker Rayburn: Unconfirmed Choco Taco fan

Someone in Congress apparently really digs linking a former House Speaker to Choco Tacos, editing the Wikipedia entry on the classic frozen treat.

According to @CongressEdits, a Twitter account that tracks Wikipedia edits made from IP addresses in Congress, the entry for the chocolaty, and, uh, taco-y dessert was anonymously altered.

The end of the “Choco Taco” entry on Wikipedia on Monday read: “In addition, Choco Tacos have been a staple of vending machines in the Rayburn House Office Building of the U.S. House of Representatives honoring former Speaker Samuel Rayburn's devotion to his favorite snack.”

Another Wikipedia entry on Rayburn, the late Texas Democrat claims, “The ice cream maker Choco Taco released a ‘Sam Rayburn Centennial’ bar in celebration of Rayburn's first term in Congress.”

While Rayburn has an entire House office building named in his honor, the Choco Taco distinction remains unconfirmed.

By Tuesday, the references to Rayburn’s supposed penchant for the Choco Taco had disappeared from both Wikipedia entries.

The Choco Taco’s maker, Unilever, did not return ITK’s request for comment.
