In a fundraising pitch sent Monday by the Democratic presidential candidate’s campaign, the “Hail, Caesar!” actor wrote that Clinton is the “one consistent voice” in “all of this clutter.”
“If you listen to the loudest voices out there today, you’d think we’re a country that hates Mexicans, hates Muslims, and thinks that committing war crimes is the best way to make America great again.”
“The truth is,” Clooney wrote, “that the only thing that would prevent America from being great would be to empower these voices."
The 54-year-old Academy Award winner continued, saying, “As this primary process continues, Hillary could soon have an insurmountable delegate lead and with that, the Democratic nomination. That would then make her the only grown-up in the room.
“And if ever there was a time for a grown-up,” the longtime Democrat added, “that time is now.”
Earlier this month, the Oscar winner slammed Trump as a "xenophobic fascist" and political "opportunist" in an interview.
Clooney, along with his wife, Amal Clooney, is hosting a fundraiser at his Los Angeles home for Clinton next month. Clooney's Monday note encouraged supporters to enter a contest to win a ticket to the event.
