Among the doors she expects to give a knock: California Democrats including Sen. Barbara Boxer, and Reps. Xavier Becerra, Mike Thompson, Eric Salwell, along with Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.).
Walsh is urging members of Congress to pass legislation that would extend a tax credit for offshore wind produced in state and federal waters. Calling the legislation a “no brainer,” she contends, “Offshore wind power is something Europeans and the Chinese have been doing for over 20 years.”
Despite her efforts as an Oceana ambassador, Walsh — who will be among the guests at Saturday’s White House Correspondents’ Association dinner — says she’s lukewarm on the idea of getting into the political ring herself. “I don’t know,” she replies when asked whether she would consider a run for public office.
“Anything is possible, I guess, but I love my industry of choice. I’m grateful it gives me the opportunity to work with issues I care about deeply.”
