"I'm here. I'd love to be with my family," she said at the 12:30 a.m. votes in the early morning hours of Tuesday.  "But it's important to get our work done."

But, she joked, her birthday "stands out this year for multiple reasons."

Later in the day, Meng tweeted a photo of a birthday cake and flowers, thanking her husband and staff.

She wasn't the only lawmaker with a birthday on Tuesday. Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) turned 40.
