Kathy Griffin defends picture with mock Trump head

Comedian Kathy Griffin defended a picture of her holding a bloody, decapitated fake head that resembles President Trump on Tuesday, saying she was "mocking the mocker in chief."

Griffin tweeted out her defense after a major backlash on social media over the photo.

"I caption this 'there was blood coming out of his eyes, blood coming out of his...wherever,'" she tweeted, referring to Trump's campaign trail comments about a primary debate exchange between himself and then-Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly.

"OBVIOUSLY, I do not condone ANY violence by my fans or others to anyone, ever! I'm merely mocking the Mocker in Chief," Griffin continued Tuesday.

The image generated major reaction on Twitter Tuesday afternoon, including from former first daughter Chelsea Clinton.
