Maybe it was her intergalactic, dramatic bouffant. Sen. Cory Booker admits he once had a crush on a “Star Trek” character.
In a response to a question Tuesday from a Twitter follower, the New Jersey Democrat wrote:
As a kid I had a crush on Lt Uhura RT @KiiillaCam Doing a presentation on u in leadership class, anything out of the ordinary I cud mention?— Cory Booker (@CoryBooker) November 12, 2013
Actress Nichelle Nichols, 80, portrayed the USS Enterprise’s chief communications officer, Nyota Uhura, in the sci-fi T.V. series and in several of the franchise’s films.
It’s not the first time Booker has professed his affection for the classic character.
In a Reddit chat last year, Booker disclosed that he was “hooked” on “Star Trek” after watching it with his dad on T.V. as a kid.
The 44-year-old bachelor said at the time that he “would be married now if Nichelle Nichols would remove the restraining order and allow me to propose.”
UPDATE: Booker's Tuesday tweet drew a response from Nichols, who said she was "honored" by the senator.
You just tweeting me has lifted me higher than The Enterprise could ever soar. God Bless & Thank U RT @RealNichelle: I'm honored Sen Booker!— Cory Booker (@CoryBooker) November 13, 2013
