In a response to a question Tuesday from a Twitter follower, the New Jersey Democrat wrote:

Actress Nichelle Nichols, 80, portrayed the USS Enterprise’s chief communications officer, Nyota Uhura, in the sci-fi T.V. series and in several of the franchise’s films.

It’s not the first time Booker has professed his affection for the classic character.

In a Reddit chat last year, Booker disclosed that he was “hooked” on “Star Trek” after watching it with his dad on T.V. as a kid.

The 44-year-old bachelor said at the time that he “would be married now if Nichelle Nichols would remove the restraining order and allow me to propose.”

UPDATE: Booker's Tuesday tweet drew a response from Nichols, who said she was "honored" by the senator.
