Bret Baier this week hit a five-year milestone as host of “Special Report.”

The Fox News host, a former pizza delivery boy, is poised for a big 2014. His show averages 2 million viewers per night, and it’s likely that the ratings will continue to be strong in this election year.

Baier replaced Brit Hume, who is now a senior political analyst for Fox News.

Hume told ITK, “Bret understands that ‘Special Report’ is a newscast and therefore is not mainly about him. He is a serious and seasoned newsman with a genial manner which viewers instinctively like and trust.”

Baier, 43, is also writing his first book this year. Special Heart: A Journey of Faith, Hope Courage and Love will focus on his 6-year-old son, Paul, who suffers from a rare heart condition.

Several other TV hosts have, or are about to, celebrate anniversaries. Chris Wallace last month hit 10 years as host of “Fox News Sunday.” “The Daily Rundown,” hosted by MSNBC’s Chuck Todd, will turn four later this week. In March, “The Lead” with CNN’s Jake Tapper will mark its first birthday.
