In a statement to ITK, Guthrie said, “My family and I greatly appreciate the prayers that have been said for my mother over her extended illness. She lived with complications from surgery for over 22 years and never complained once.

“She was extremely ill for the past few years, but still she always cared for others and never put herself first. She was a wonderful example of what it means to love thy neighbor. Today, I am sad to report that she is in God’s hands. We will miss her terribly, but we do rejoice in knowing that she is with our Savior. On behalf of my father, brothers, and our families, thank you again for your prayers, love and support. They provide us strength as we cope with our loss.”

Carolyn Guthrie was 71.
