Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) goes through security on Capitol Hill just like everybody else.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) pointed out this little-known fact during his Thursday address to the Conservative Political Action Conference.

Members of Congress can go around the metal detectors, but Coburn gets in line like everybody else.

McConnell said Coburn is "the only senator who does that every single morning."

Why? Because that what Coburn's constituents have to do, McConnell said.

McConnell's remarks came amid a tribute to the conservative senator, who is retiring this year because of health issues.
