She’s won an Academy Award, was declared the “World’s Most Beautiful Person” by People magazine, and now, Lupita Nyong’o is snagging one of the hottest tickets around, to this year’s White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner.
The “12 Years a Slave” actress will attend the May 3 gathering at the Washington Hilton Hotel as a guest of Time magazine, ITK has learned. The film's Oscar-nominated director, Steve McQueen will also attend as Time's guest.
Fortune magazine, which is published by Time Inc., will host "The Lone Ranger" actor Armie Hammer and wife Elizabeth Chambers, as well as "Dallas" star Patrick Duffy.
Nyong’o, considered to be Hollywood’s latest “It Girl,” adds some star power to a Correspondents’ Dinner that so far appears to be lacking the headline-grabbing, eyebrow-raising guests of years past.
The 31-year-old Kenyan entertainer graced the cover of People mag last week.
Last year, tabloid fixture Kim Kardashian attended the dinner and was the focus of several jokes by headliner Jimmy Kimmel and President Obama. Past guests have also included Lindsay Lohan, Ozzy Osbourne, George Clooney and Reese Witherspoon.
