Meghan McCain is opening up about her mother’s bashing of Gwyneth Paltrow, saying she agrees with her mom for “freak[ing] out” about the actress’s comments comparing online criticism to war.

“My mom totally freaked out,” the daughter of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) — a former prisoner of war in North Vietnam — said Tuesday on “Access Hollywood Live,” explaining, “Obviously my father’s a veteran, I have two brothers in the military, and they’re both deployed.”

“I just think comparing any experience to a soldier at war to me is very disrespectful to what men and women give up,” said the 29-year-old Pivot TV "TakePart Live" host.

Last week, Cindy McCain took to Twitter to lambast Paltrow, writing to her 18,000 followers: “Gweneth Paltrow [sic] is a joke. Her life is like taking bullets for a soldier. What a joke! My 2 sons serving in the military should talk to her.”

In an interview, the “Iron Man 3” star likened critical Internet comments she received to surviving a war, saying, “You come across [online comments] about yourself and about your friends, and it’s a very dehumanizing thing.”

Paltrow continued, “It’s almost like how, in war, you go through this bloody, dehumanizing thing, and then something is defined out of it.”

Meghan McCain called Paltrow’s remarks a “completely ridiculous statement.”

“What kind of reality are you living in when the men and women that are giving so much for this country you’re comparing to being a movie star and Internet comments?” McCain told “Access Hollywood Live” hosts Billy Bush and Kit Hoover.

“I mean people lose their limbs in war,” McCain added, saying, “Give me a freaking break, Gwyneth Paltrow.”
