President Obama made a surprise visit to a Starbucks on Monday, but reportedly skipped coffee in favor of tea while he was at the caffeine lover’s mecca.

After exiting the White House, Obama remarked, “The bear is loose,” according to a press pool report. At one point during the walk to the coffee shop, the president told reporters to keep their distance and said to White House staff, “Let’s test your wrangling skills.”

While Obama bought a Venti-sized tea, McDonough was seen walking with two drinks — one in each hand.

No word on what type of tea the president preferred.

It’s not the first time Obama has ventured outside the confines of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. for a stroll around town. Last month, he took a brief walk from the White House to the Interior Department for an event. He also uttered “The bear is loose” during that outing, just as he did on Monday.
