World Cup distracts from news conference

House and Senate Democrats had some stiff competition as they gathered Thursday for a news conference marking the one-year anniversary of the upper chamber passing immigration reform: the World Cup.

A television set was seen showing the highly anticipated soccer match between the United States and Germany just steps away from where lawmakers gathered.

While the television is often turned off during press conferences, that wasn’t the case during the noontime game.
