Chelsea Clinton is parting ways with NBC, leaving her role as a special correspondent to focus on her charity work and on becoming a first-time mom.

In a statement to People magazine released Friday, the former first daughter said she’s exiting the peacock network “to continue focusing on my work at the Clinton Foundation and as Marc and I look forward to welcoming our first child.”

Clinton’s baby with husband Marc Mezvinsky is reportedly due this fall.

The 34-year-old Stanford University grad made headlines and drew criticism in 2011, when NBC announced her hire. Clinton’s salary for sporadic work, which was reportedly $600,000 annually, also raised eyebrows, with some questioning whether NBC was trying to curry favor with her powerful parents.

Clinton largely contributed stories to the “Making a Difference” feature on “NBC Nightly News.”

In her statement to People, Clinton said the highlight of her TV work included reporting on the positive impact made by individuals and organizations.
