Duncan launches YouTube voting for $1,000 prize

Secretary of Education Arne Duncan is offering $1,000 prizes to the top three entries in a video contest that is being broadcast on YouTube.

The "I Am What I Learn" competition features student submissions on the theme of "why education is important." More than 600 YouTube videos were received, and Tuesday marked the start of the public voting phase on the top 10.

Voting on YouTube ends Dec. 4, at which point the top three vote-getters will each win $1,000 prizes.

Duncan recorded a thank you message to all the students who entered the contest, which was broadcast on, what else? YouTube.
