Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Thursday morning made sure to say very nice things about Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.).
After publicly pressuring Reid last month on the ingredients of healthcare reform -- comments that raised a few eyebrows on Capitol Hill -- Schumer praised the majority leader up and down during an appearance on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."
"There's no one better at this than Harry Reid. And I think people always underestimate him," Schumer said.
Smiling, the New York senator added, "He's a great leader and I am committed to his leadership so let's just put this aside."
The remark triggered laughter from host Joe Scarborough, who chimed in, "Well said."
During a previous appearance on "Morning Joe" in October, Schumer made the case for a public option on healthcare in remarks that were seen as pressuring Reid to embrace a large government role in overhauling the nation's healthcare system.
