Chelsea Clinton engaged, summer 2010 wedding planned

By Christina Wilkie - 11/30/09 11:24 AM ET

It's official: Chelsea Clinton will marry long-time boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky in the summer of 2010.

The former First Daughter and her new fiancee (pictured here) sent an email to close friends over the weekend announcing their engagement and joking about the persistent wedding rumors circulating last summer.

The email, first obtained by ABC News, reads:

"We're sorry for the mass email but we wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy Thanksgiving! We also wanted to share that we are engaged! We didn't get married this past summer despite the stories to the contrary, but we are looking toward next summer and hope you all will be there to celebrate with us. Happy Holidays! Chelsea & Marc"

Clinton and Mezvinsky have known each other since they were both teenagers living in Washington, D.C., but they didn't start dating until after they graduated from Stanford University. Mezvinsky works for bailed out Wall Street firm Goldman Sachs, which Clinton is getting her master's degree at Columbia University's School of Public Health.

According to close family friends, the wedding will likely take place on Martha's Vineyard, Mass., where the Clinton family has vacationed nearly every summer since Chelsea was a teenager. Expect an A-List political crowd: In addition to Chelsea's famous parents, former President Bill Clinton and Sec. of State Hillary Clinton, Mezvinsky's mom and dad are also politicos: former Rep. Ed Mezvinsky (D-Iowa), and former Rep. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinksy (D-Pa.).
