Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) appeared to have been caught up in the excitement of Sunday's Kennedy Center Honors when she reportedly told assembled media on the red carpet, "I've never missed a Bruce Springsteen show in California."
ITK's preliminary review suggests otherwise. According to Springsteen's touring schedule, "The Boss" played the Golden State three times this past year: April 1 in San Jose, and April 15 and 16 in Los Angeles.
An April 1 press release from Pelosi's office quoted her saying she looked forward to debating the budget in Washington D.C. that evening.
Two weeks later, she was photographed at numerous events in San Francisco on April 15 and 16, so it's unlikely that she made the 800-mile roundtrip to Los Angeles to catch the show.
Pelosi (shown here at the awards with husband Paul Pelosi) is clearly a fan of rock bands. In September she was spotted at a U2 concert at FedEx Field, where she arranged for lead singer Bono to give her son-in-law, Michael Vos, a birthday shout out on stage.
A spokesman for Pelosi told ITK she misspoke; the Speaker meant to say she has never missed a Springsteen show in the Bay Area.
