Davis cosponsors Xmas resolution by mistake
For two days this year, Rep. Danny Davis (D-Ill.) was a cosponsor of the GOP-backed legislation commonly known as the the resolution on Christmas -- by mistake.
Davis was the only Democratic sponsor from Dec. 8 to Dec. 10 of the controversial resolution, which seeks to recognize and protect the "symbols and traditions of Christmas ... for use by those who celebrate Christmas." He officially pulled his name off the measure on Thursday.
Davis' spokesman told ITK that the mistake was due to a communication error within his staff, adding, "This is not something Congressman Davis ever supported."
GOP House members offered similar versions of the resolution in 2006 and 2007; it has never advanced beyond committee.
