Rep. Tammy Baldwin sick with H1N1

By Christina Wilkie - 12/11/09 01:32 PM ET

Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.) spent part of this week recovering from what appears to be swine flu, according to a statement released Friday by her office.

Baldwin missed votes on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday due to her illness, becoming the second member of Congress to officially declare she caught the dreaded H1N1 virus; Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore.) was out for a week in October for the same reason.

“Like many Americans, I’m feeling the effects of this nasty virus.  I very much regret missing House business, including floor consideration of a bill I strongly support to overhaul our financial system and ensure that Wall St. and big banks can no longer abuse the public trust. Thankfully, I am already beginning to feel better and hope to be back to full strength very soon,” Baldwin said.
