Woman arrested for threatening Michelle Obama
A woman in Hawaii has been arrested after threatening to kill First Lady Michelle Obama, according to an affidavit filed by Secret Service Special Agent John Woodruff and reported by the Honolulu Advertiser.
The woman, Kristy Lee Roshia, currently lives in Hawaii. She reportedly has a history of making threats to the Secret Service that stretches back more than two years.
The incident in question began Nov. 10, when Roshia told a Secret Service office receptionist in Boston that she would "kill Michelle Obama."
The threat prompted agents to schedule an interview with Roshia on Dec. 19, more than a week in advance of the First Family's departure.
It was during the interview that Roshia told agents that she knew where the Obamas would be staying during their vacation. She also said she had visited the location.
The Obamas have stayed in the same house, at Kailua Beach on prior trips to Hawaii, and the affidavit described Roshia's information as "consistent" with the official Secret Service itinerary for the trip.
She was then taken into custody and charged. While she was being held, the affidavit states that "Roshia further claimed that she would 'blow away the whole Oval Office.'"
