Obamas catch 'Avatar' in 3-D

President Barack Obama spent part of his New Year's Eve at the movies, seeing the most expensive film ever made, James Cameron's sci-fi epic "Avatar."

The president was accompanied by his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, and his two daughters, Sasha and Malia. CNN's Ed Henry wrote on his Twitter page that the First Family had the entire theater to themselves, and that they saw the film in 3-D.

The outing may be the only celebrating the president gets to do before he rings in the new year; Senior administration officials said Thursday that Obama plans to spend the evening reviewing intelligence reports on the attempted terrorist attack Christmas Day.
