Lawmakers tweet from overseas

By Jordan Fabian - 01/05/10 02:12 PM ET

Two official Twitter accounts Tuesday chronicled overseas trips by members of Congress.

Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Ala.) tweeted about his trip with seven colleagues to Egypt, Israel and Turkey. The congressman included more details in a linked Facebook post:

This week I am on a congressional delegation trip in Egypt, Israel, and Turkey for meetings with various officials. Seven of my colleagues and I are here to learn more about security concerns in the Middle East. Today, we're meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Pres. Shimon Peres and Opposition Leader Tzipi Livni to discuss mutual security concerns of the U.S. and Israel.

Meanwhile, the Senate Republicans' official account retweeted a message saying that Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) (pictured here on a 2008 trip with Sen. Lindsay Graham) along with Sens. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) and John Thune (R-S.D.) are on a one day trip to Iraq.

Lawmakers at home for the holiday recess. have continued to tweet about their town halls and local appearances. Now their colleagues overseas have joined them.
