Vice President takes in ballet, pokes fun at Rahm

Vice President Joe Biden took in a little ballet with his wife on Monday evening, and even took a moment to poke fun at Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel for his dancing background.

The vice president and Dr. Jill Biden hosted the reception in honor of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

Vice President Biden admitted he wasn’t always a ballet fan. But after seeing Mikhail Baryshnikov perform, he’s been an admirer since. He also teased Emanuel for his training as a ballet dancer (a pool report left out his exact comments).

Emanuel is a serious dancer. His mother urged him to dance as a child and he is a graduate of the Evanston School of Ballet. Emanuel also attended Sarah Lawrence College for their dance program. Emanuel wasn’t present to rebut the comments, but he did arrive later in the evening.

 The company will kick off its 20-city tour Tuesday at the Kennedy Center.
