Veteran
Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) was placed in intensive care at a Virginia
hospital on Tuesday, according to the lawmaker's spokesman.
Murtha,
who helms the powerful House Appropriations Defense subcommittee, was
admitted to the Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington.
The
congressman, who is 77 years old, suffered complications after he
underwent laparoscopic surgery to remove his gallbladder last week,
according to spokesman Matt Mazonkey.
Murtha was first hospitalized in December after his gallbladder became infected.
