Sen. Burris: This snow is 'nothing'

Washington's rough winter has not impressed Sen. Roland Burris (D-Ill.).

Burris on Tuesday told The Hill that his home state of Illinois is accustomed to far worse storms.

"This is nothing," Burris said. "This is April in Chicago."

Burris isn't the only politician from Illinois who likes to talk smack about the snow.

The man Burris replaced in the upper chamber, President Barack Obama, has made similar quips.

In January of 2009, Obama said, "My children's school was canceled today, because of what, some ice? As my children pointed out, in Chicago, school is never canceled."

"When it comes to the weather, folks in Washington don't seem to be able to handle things," Obama said, adding he would have to inject "some flinty Chicago toughness" into Washingtonians.
