Senate warned not to visit Drudge

The Senate's Sergeant-at-Arms this week sent an e-mail to Senate staffers not to visit the news aggregator Drudge Report and phone whitepages.com.

Staff was warned via e-mail not to visit the sites because the sergeant-at-arms believes that the sites were the source of viruses that had spread throughout the Senate.

The Drudge Report has responded to the claim, saying that the site had 30 million pageviews on Monday without any virus complaints.

Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), one of the most conservative members of the upper chamber, told CNS News that he thinks the e-mail was politically motivated.

"The liberals, the extremists, they don’t want the information that [site founder Matt Drudge] has because he’s a man of truth and most of them don’t want the truth," he said.
