White House postpones tennis day

The White House on Wednesday postponed a planned event with First Lady Michelle Obama and tennis legend Billie Jean King due to rain.

The event, part of the first lady's South Lawn Series of sports days for children, was supposed to feature tennis games with local children, but nearly 24 hours of heavy rain has left the White House lawns and gardens soaking wet.

The White House said the event will be rescheduled, but no word yet on when.

2010 Wimbledon champion Serena Williams was originally planning to headline the event, but a foot injury late last week put the tennis star out of commission. King agreed to attend in her place.
