Reid to Lady Gaga: 'Don't ask, don't tell' vote will be next week

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) responded to a tweet and a photo posted by Lady Gaga on Tuesday urging her fans to call him to schedule a vote on a defense authorization bill that includes a provision repealing "Don't ask, don't tell."

The photo shows Lady Gaga arriving at the Video Music Awards, escorted by four gay former servicemembers. The caption reads, "Gay Veterans were my VMA dates. Repeal Don't Ask Don't Tell. CALL HARRY REID to Schedule Senate Vote."

"@ladygaga," Reid wrote, "There is a vote on #DADT next week. Anyone qualified to serve this country should be allowed to do so."

The tweet linked to an announcement from Reid's reelection campaign that the bill would come to the Senate floor next week. It did not specify which day.
