Sen. Menendez lauds Bon Jovi's spot on White House council

Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) congratulated his home state's second most famous rocker on his appointment to a special White House council.

Menendez cheered Jon Bon Jovi's appointment this week to the White House Council on Community Services, where he'll work on "the best ways to mobilize citizens, nonprofits, businesses and government to work more effectively together to solve specific community needs."

Menendez tweeted Thursday:

Congrats to NJ’s @BonJovi for WH appointment! Strengthening communities, bc everyone wants to go home http://bit.ly/ih1Wdl

The tweet comes after some Jersey pride earlier this week from the Garden State's senators. Both of them "Acelabrated" on Twitter the 10-year anniversary of the high-speed rail system in their state.

Update: Menendez's daughter Alicia, a Democratic operative, called out her dad for the cheesy tweet:

@SenatorMenendez love you, love @BonJovi but that lyrical reference was too much.
